Keighley Cougars coach Steve Deakin has no injury worries as he takes his table-topping side to struggling York on Sunday.

The Cougars lead the North-ern Ford Premiership after winning their first two matches and scoring 76 points in the process.

After their convincing victory over Dewsbury Rams at the weekend, the players are brimming with confidence and enthusiasm, but they are not getting carried away.

Skipper Graeme Hallas warned that the players must still work hard, and said of the visit to York: "It won't be easy."

With the York area having been hit by heavy rain in recent months, the Cougars are expecting heavy conditions, and Deakin admitted: "We may have to play a less expansive game, but we will try to keep the ball alive whenever possible."

Both Deakin and Hallas said one of the factors in the Cougars' great start has been the support from their fans.

Hallas agreed the Cougars supporters are in for a treat this season as he feels the less intense nature of the Premier-ship compared to Super League encourages a more skilful and open game.

Deakin expected to name the same 17 as he did against the Rams, though he may have an extra option as last year's skipper Alan Boothroyd returned to action in last night's A team win over Rochdale Hornets at Cougar Park.

Five second-half tries helped them to a 41-13 success, and Deakin was delighted with the display.

"Both the first and second teams have 100 per cent records and are top of their leagues. That is something to be pleased about," he said.

"The attitude of all the players is first-class. Matt Foster typified that last night by putting in a fine display, despite almost having to pull out with flu."
