Wharfedale residents are being asked to name that tune for charity.

Marie Curie Cancer care home, Ardenlea, is asking people to name their favourite hymns.

The request has been made by organisers of a service of favourite hymns to celebrate the work of the centre in Ilkley.

Fundraiser, Brenda Doyle, said, "The Songs of Praise Service is very popular and this year it will have special significance by being the last one under the auspices of Ardenlea before the relocation of the centre to Bradford.

"We would love people who have been a patient, relatives or former members of staff or volunteers to send us their favourite hymns and give us as much information as possible why they like it to add interest to the service.

"We may not be able to use all of them but it will hopefully provide an entertaining programme of favourites."

Everyone is welcome to attend the service which will take place at Otley Parish Church on Sunday, January 14, at 6pm.

Hymns will be introduced by Otley auctioneer Ben Atkinson and music will be provided by Guiseley Band and the Otley Parish Church organist, Mr Barry Lancaster.

A retiring collection will be held for Ardenlea and refreshments served afterwards. For more information contact Brenda Doyle on 01943 817395.

l Carols By Candlelight will be taking place at Christchurch, The Grove, on Wednesday, December 20, from 7 - 8.45pm. The special carols concert and candle ceremony is being held in aid of research into childhood cancers. Tickets are available from Christchurch, the Cancer Research Campaign Shop and Andrea Bacon, community fundraiser on 01274 233294.
