Walking as well as watching was in store for disabled local people as they visited Cougar Park on Sunday.

Members of the JOIN social group did a sponsored walk around the perimeter of the rugby pitch.

They completed the circuit up to 10 times before the match and raised £136 to help fund their weekly activities.

JOIN provides sessions every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for about 30 local people with learning disabilities.

Much of the money raised on the walk will fund new dance/drama sessions, which after Christmas will be held at Churchill House.

JOIN manager Sonia Knight says members who braved the cold and rain had a good time on Sunday.

She says: "Quite a lot have mobility problems so even one lap was quite an effort. A couple of them did 10 laps."

After their experience the walkers joined other Cougar fans to watch the team beat the Dewsbury Rams.
