A Stockbridge pub that was devastated by the recent floods is hoping to raise Christmas spirits when it re-opens its doors today.

The Bridge Inn on Bradford Road is throwing open its doors at noon after a major refit.

The pub was one of the many businesses in Stockbridge hit by Keighley's worst floods for 50 years.

It was submerged by floodwater after the River Aire burst its banks following days of torrential rain.

But in the space of just six weeks the Bridge's managers Chris and Jackie Lumb have managed to restore the pub in readiness for Christmas.

Says Jackie: "The flood water completely ruined the downstairs and we have totally stripped the whole place and refurbished it from top to bottom.

"We're glad we've managed to do it before Christmas because we didn't want to let anyone down who had booked their meal here.

"Nearly everyone said they would wait until we re-opened rather than going somewhere else, which we are really chuffed about."

To celebrate the re-opening Jackie and Chris are offering a free glass of sparkling wine and a mince pie to the first 100 customers.
