Otley Town Res..........1

Town Reserves gave their season a massive boost with a hard-earned win, away at third placed Boroughbridge.

Otley dominated the first-half but couldn't find the precision within their passing that their work rate deserved.

After half an hour, an attempted one-two between Town's front pairing fell to Bobby Johnston who drilled a low shot into the bottom corner.

In the second-half, Town dealt easily with anything that the wind or Boroughbridge threw at them, with the back four defenders having an outstanding game. A succession of corners was the main threat, but Town weathered the storm and when Boroughbridge did actually breach the Otley defence, they found 'keeper David Kirkpatrick, in fine form.

This result, on a pitch on which Otley Town has seen happy days in recent years, puts them on level terms with the hosts, in joint third position. Town have a hard month in front of them; at home to Tockwith, away to leaders Kirby Malzeard then at home to near neighbours Pool who are at present second. A successful December will surely see Town pushing hard for the title.

l On Saturday, Town Reserves entertain Tockwith, with a 2.00pm kick off.

Spa Athletic Res ...2

Spa Athletic Reserves were the visitors to the Old Showfield last weekend and came out on top of a scrappy affair.

Town started this game, second in the league, but certainly didn't show their recent form with this disappointing performance.

In a game that lacked excitement for the cold windswept spectators,

Spa took the lead almost at the end of the first -half with goal that punished Town when the defence failed to clear during a goalmouth scramble.

Town came back into the game in the second-half, but despite several weak long range efforts, failed to get any success where it mattered, in the box.

Spa then clinched the winner about twenty minutes from the end when a high ball from a free kick was met by Spa's tall striker and headed past the stranded Kirkpatrick.

l This week Town 'A' travel to play Hampsthwaite United. Reserves., kick- off 2.00pm.
