Salt Grammar School pupils have come to the aid of Shipley Labour MP Chris Leslie, pictured, to help him revamp his webpage.

Mr Leslie - the only MP in the Bradford district to have a webpage - appealed for help after it was criticised for being out-of-date.

"The original web page was designed by children at Burley Middle School but since the schools shake-up the site has not been updated. Obviously the children have moved on. But I was quite shocked to hear the site slated. I almost choked on my cornflakes, metaphorically speaking."

Now he has contacted Salt Grammar School, which had a glittering opening of a new £3.2million wing by Prime Minister Tony Blair. Mr Leslie said: I wanted children involved in making the webpage. They have some good ideas and I am confident it will prove my critics wrong. As well as basic information, I would like it to be more interactive."

Deputy head teacher Milan Davidovic said the school was pleased to help out. "As a result of speaking with Chris Leslie, we have decided to do an IT project and children from across the school can submit ideas. The project is designed to teach youngsters about IT in a safe way.

"The site is under construction at the moment and will have basic information and biographical details." Anyone who wants to make a suggestion can log on to www.parliament.uk.
