Two people have contacted police with information about the attempted abduction of a teenager.

Calderdale police warned young women to be on their guard after a man tried to drag the teenage girl into his car in Rastrick.

The 16-year-old was walking in Crow Trees Lane near the Greyhound pub at 11.20pm last Sunday after leaving her friend's house. A pale-blue family-sized saloon car drove up next to her and the driver leaned over the passenger side and looked at her.

She continued to walk along Delph Hill and into New Hey Road. The driver engaged her in brief conversation before opening the door, leaning out of the car and grabbing her coat sleeve. He then tried to pull her into the car. She struggled free and ran off and the man drove off in the direction of Ainley Top.

The teenager was interviewed by police but was unable to provide a reliable picture of the man for an e-fit. He was described as being white, in his late 20s or early 30s, with short dark hair, of medium build and a round face. He had stubble and wore a dark-coloured jacket.

Police said two people came forward after seeing publicity, but are still appealing for witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Brighouse helpdesk on (01484) 405259.
