TRAFFIC chaos will return to inconvenience residents in the Back Lane area of Guiseley for a further fortnight as work on the latter stages of a major housing development continues.
Residents were relieved over the Christmas and New Year period when the roadworks, which make it impossible to pass through the Back Lane area from the White Cross end, were lifted in a bid to give local people some respite.
People living in that part of Guiseley have complained about the inconvenience and traffic congestion as a result of the roadworks, which are connected to the building of a new housing estate at the back of the Silver Cross factory.
Dennis Conlon, who lives on Back Lane, said residents had received a letter from the contractors explaining that the traffic measures - which mean people travelling along Back Lane from Park Road have to cut through Renton Avenue to reach Otley Road - and that work should be completed in the next fortnight.
"It will be a blessing because it has caused much disruption to residents, " he said.
