NORTH FERRIBY......1

Guiseley.................2

MANAGER Neil Parsley rang the changes for Tuesday night's League Cup tie at North Ferriby and his side emerged with a victory - their first in seven games.

Out went goalkeeper Nigel Muttick - left to shoulder the blame for two abysmal defensive errors in the 2-0 defeat by Eastwood Town on Saturday; out went on loan player David Donaldson who has returned to Bradford Park Avenue; and out went young midfielder Phil Atkinson to the substitutes' bench.

Parsley also released St Kitts international Des Hazel who had been team captain.

James Shutt - who went out of favour by taking a Christmas holiday to New York - was quickly welcomed back to goal after the howlers against Eastwood. David Cooke was restored to his more rightful position of midfield with Gareth Pritchard back to fitness returning up front.

This soon paid off as Pritchard produced some early efforts on goal and then opened the scoring.

In the 17th minute the young striker had a one-on-one with the 'keeper but lost out. Dave Henry, Paul Bulgin and Benn Gallagher all had shots go wide and Pritchard shot acoss the face of goal before Pritchard chipped the 'keeper in the 39th minute to open the scoring.

Just before the break Bulgin's header went close.

In the second-half Guiseley had plenty of possession and shots from Burke, David Cooke and Matt Daly were saved and Henry shot over.

Guiseley were rocked in the 63rd minute when Ferriby were awarded a dubious penalty and Ryan Vickers stepped up to level the scores.

Guiseley battled on and four minmutes later Dave Henry hit a right foot shot into the roof of the net to gain victory for his side.

Manager Parsley then pulled off Paul Burke to bring himself on for the last 15 minutes as he makes a bid to return to playing action after a lengthy period out following knee surgery.

Parsley's moves gained their justification with a win and Guiseley will now be hoping to show some of their League Cup form in the league starting on Saturday when they visit Kendal Town for a 3 pm kick-off.

EASTWOOD TOWN....2

TWO defensive howlers left Guiseley red faced and pointless when they entertained Eastwood Town on Saturday - a side they had already beaten twice this season.

Spectators were expecting an upturn in Guiseley fortunes when Eastwood pulled into Town after the Nethermoor men had gained a 4-1 win over them in the FA Trophy.

The Nottingham side must have brought Robin Hood with them as they stole the points and hot-footed it home.

Guiseley had the better of the game and made a bright start with youngster Phil Atkinson making several promising runs and crosses in the early stages.

Atkinson also produced the best Guiseley shot of the game but it was well-taken by 'keeper Parkin.

Paul Burke had a shot deflected wide and Dave Henry had his right foot shot saved.

Disaster struck in the 65th minute when Guiseley 'keeper Nigel Muttick initially saved well from Dwayne Soar but with the defence in complete disarray he could only watch as Soar added the finishing touch.

Guiseley tried to get back on terms and two efforts from Dave Henry went over the bar.

In the last minute of the game a mistake by Andy Williams let in Mark Smith and it seemed that Muttick's only option would have been to bring him down. Muttick - red carded once already this season - took too long making up his mind and Smith waltzed away to score.

l On Saturday Guiseley Reserves welcome Altrincham to Nethermoor for a 3 pm kick-off.
