Only a victory for Bradford Park Avenue at Chorley tomorrow will guarantee they hold on to second place in UniBond Division One.

The Bradford side were knocked off the top by Vauxhall Motors last week, a 1-0 reverse at Horsfall Stadium leading to the Merseyside club leap-frogging Trevor Storton's side.

Ashton United closed the gap behind them with an 8-1 romp over Kendal Town so two points separate the top three.

"If Ashton and Vauxhall both pick up points we could find ourselves back in third and having played more games than the top two," said Storton "We were very unfortunate against Vauxhall last week and need to bounce back."

Storton recalls both defender Neil Bagshaw and midfielder Mark Hancock, who served one-match suspensions and missed the Vauxhall defeat, but Dean Calcutt still has two games of a three-match ban to serve.

Neighbours Farsley Celtic could do Avenue a huge good turn if they beat Ashton at Throstle Nest.

Midfielder Paul Wharton and striker Martin Regan come back into contention, but there is a doubt over keeper Liam Sutcliffe, who injured a foot in training before Tues-day's 2-1 West Riding County Cup victory over Hatfield Main.

Guiseley dropped into the relegation zone following last week's disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Eastwood Town, but their confidence was restored with a midweek 2-1 League Cup win over North Ferriby United.

Neil Parsley's men will be hoping Kendal are still reeling from last Saturday's thrashing when they visit the Cumbria side.

Club captain Des Hazel has been released and Dave Don-aldson has returned to Park Avenue after a month's loan.

Thackley have climbed to seventh in the Northern Counties Eastern Premier Division, but will have to be on top form when they host second-placed Ossett Albion.

The only change to the squad after last Saturday's comfortable win over basement side Armthorpe Welfare is Mick Fallon coming in for the unavailable Craig Delahaye.

Liversedge are also at home and they too face a stern test of their resurgence against Glasshoughton Wel-fare. Eccleshill United travel to Buxton in the same division.
