SAM CLEGG led the Keighley school challenge at the Yorkshire Cross Country Championships at Leeds on Saturday.

He took sixth place in the Under-15 boys category with fellow Oakbank student Richard Stack in 46th place and Mark Hardman 51st.

Clegg was up with the front runners right from the start and his sixth position gained him a place in the Yorkshire team to run in the Inter-Counties at Nottingham on February 10.

Rebecca Long took 12th place in the girls Under-15 event and Nicola Mahomet was 48th. In the Under-17 race Helen Glover was 14th, Laura Greenham 21st, Nicola Leng 23rd, Kaisleigh Greenham 27, Charlott Leng 28 and Rachel Hanson 36.

Oakbank fitness manager, Will Smith helped Keighley and Craven AC to third place in the mens team event.

Bingley took the team championship with J Taylor 2nd, 4 Ian Holmes, 9 C Cariss, 12 S Macdonald, 13 Andy Peace.

C Sanderson of Bingley won the women's race.
