Bobby Vanzie's future plans have been thrown into confusion by the postponement of tonight's Commonwealth lightweight title defence against James Armah.

His management team are hoping the clash with the Ghanaian can be rescheduled for later this month.

But that will cause complications with his mandatory British title defence against Harlow's Steve Murray which must be fought by the end of March.

The purse bids for that fight are due to close on Wednesday but Vanzie's manager Tommy Gilmour and promoter Barry Hearn are hoping to get the British Boxing Board of Control to extend the deadline.

It would be preferable for Vanzie for that fight to be moved back into April.

But Vanzie admits it is a baffling situation. "I just don't know what to make of it," he said.

"The last thing I wanted is a delay like this. Everything is just so frustrating. I am waiting to learn from my manager what is happening next.

"I will be returning to full training tomorrow but I need to know what is happening.

"I was told that the Armah fight could be staged in two weeks' time but nothing was confirmed.

"I am really sceptical about the whole thing. I have heard so many stories varying from him being cut, missing the connecting flight from Milan and even being overweight that I am not sure what to believe.

"What I do know is that this man has let me down twice now and I intend to make him pay for it.

"I have never felt so gutted and I hope that I am never in this sort of position again."
