In the Premier Division survival battle there was a welcome 4-0 win for newcomers Craven Heifer over Ventus and a great second half comeback for Wibsey WMC.

Both father and son Eddie and Steve Helliwell were on target in Craven's surprisingly easy victory over Ventus, while young striker Mark Betts was Wibsey's hero at Queensbury.

The home side forward pairing of Chris Marsden and Mick Naylor created all the early problems as Queensbury strode into their early lead. Betts pulled a goal back via a penalty just before half-time before completing his hat-trick in the second half as Wibsey exposed Queensbury's defensive frailties.

Eight hours work on the pitch on Saturday worked for injury-hit Westwood who hindered Rawdon's promotion hopes in the First Division with a 75th minute winner from Paul Taylor. The goal came from makeshift centre half Lee Innes's clearance to Neil Richards who found Taylor's head with his cross.

A great display by the Springfield keeper prevented double figures at East Ward who, with Phil Clapham and Lee Jeyes both scoring in each half, stay in promotion contention after a 6-1 romp.

Referee Malcolm Collins was full of praise and admiration for the way both sides went about business on a difficult pitch at Albion Sports Reserves in Division 1B.

Visitors Dudley Hill Reserves went in front through Paddy Carver, Albion equalised in the 40th minute through Jactar Jrooprai but found keeper Chris Wright in fine form as they tried unsuccessfully for a winner.

After their pitch was ruled unfit at Woodhall, Oddy's transferred their third round Intermediate Cup game to St Pat's and produced the major shock in the competition by pipping their rivals 3-2.

Leading twice through a Mark Fernie penalty and Darren Beck, St Pat's looked the more likely winners in the first half. Oddy's refused to lie down against a higher division side that had only lost their first league game the previous week and completed their win with almost identical goals from corners which the St Pat's defence failed to clear.

Oddy's now meet Clayton Orient who sank Thornbury 5-1.

Australian manager Mick Hodgson gave himself a shirt for the victors and the veteran striker turned back time with a four goal performance.

Queens booked their quarter-final place with four goals without reply second half performance on a frozen Apperley Bridge surface against Undercliffe CC, who looked good value in a goalless first half.

In a game switched to West Park, Station won a nailbiter with Junction 7-5. The score was locked at 3-3 at the change round and Station forced extra time after being 5-3 down with 15 minutes to go before finishing the stronger in the extra 30 minutes.
