A movie about the middle-aged WI women who stripped for charity will receive top billing from its Disney financial backers.
Production company Buena Vista International, a subsidiary of Disney, is giving priority to making the film this year. Susanne Mackey, of Harbour Pictures, which aims to shoot the film in Yorkshire, has quashed rumours that plans for the drama about the Rylstone WI have faltered.
She commented after learning of remarks reportedly made by Victoria Wood.
The actress and comedian, who has a home in Halton East, near Skipton, originally wanted to make the movie but was turned down by the majority of the women.
Miss Wood said that after hearing that US moves to make the movie had come unstuck she would "still love to do it". But Miss Mackey said: "There is no truth whatsoever to the film becoming unstuck. The script is in its third draft and we hope to start filming this year."
Miss October, Tricia Stewart, 51, of Cracoe near Skipton, said: "We understand the movie is Disney's top project for this year. They want it made before Christmas."
