Job prospects in Yorkshire & Humberside should continue to rise in the first quarter of the year a key survey revealed today.

Manpower's Quarterly Survey of Employment Prospects shows that local companies are expected to take on more staff continuing the year-on-year trend for the region. Healthcare in particular is expected to show an increase in vacancies.

Yorkshire & Humberside is above average in the UK, where employment is set to continue to rise. Other trends nationally include a jobs boom in the public sector with 23 per cent of public sector employers planning to take on more staff compared to 14 per cent a year ago.

Liz Kennedy, an employment expert from Manpower said: "The region has shown outstanding improvements in job opportunities, lifting the region from eighth position a year ago to equal second today. More importantly, the long-term trend is positive too."
