Bradford Park Avenue are waiting on a pitch inspection ahead of tonight's West Riding County Cup quarter-final at Glasshoughton Welfare.

Thawing temperatures are causing concern and have already led to the postponement of Thackley's home second round tie against Tadcaster Albion.

Avenue manager Trevor Storton is hoping the match gets the green light because he needs to get defenders Paul Marquis and Neil Lacy back in competitive action.

The pair have missed games through injury and with his side's push for promotion from UniBond Division One reaching a crucial stage Storton wants them for Saturday's visit of Radcliffe Borough.

The tight squad will be stretched as versatile Wayne Benn is under a one-match ban, striker Phil Denney is at Guiseley on loan and Stephen Ball has been released.

Storton made the decision to allow Ball to leave Horsfall last Friday. He was immediately snapped up by Division One rivals Harrogate Town.

Tonight's cup tie will only go ahead if Avenue officials are confident the pitch at Glasshoughton's Leeds Road ground poses no threat of danger to their players.

Thackley secretary Stuart Willingham said they had no option but to call the game off last night: "We got the match referee in to inspect the pitch and there was no point in delaying the decision."

"There was snow on some parts and over three-quarters of the playing area was under standing water.''

A new date for the tie could be as early as Thursday as the Thackley v Tadcaster clash is already a round behind. Farsley Celtic face the winners in the last eight.
