Bradford City supporters who have braved the cold and rain in the Sunwin Stand at Valley Parade this season will receive a discount worth about £30 on next year's season ticket.

City had hoped the roof of the new double decker £7.5m west stand would be in place by the end of February, but delays in building work means it will not be completed until the end of May by which time the season will be over.

Chairman Geoffrey Richmond said: "We have decided to offer a ten per cent discount on next season's season ticket if they renew by April 29.

"It is to compensate for the stand roof not being in place on the date we set and the inconvenience people have suffered during the season."

More and more of the open seating will be covered as the season progresses. Three sections of the roof will be in place for the West Ham match on Saturday, February 24 covering spectators in F and part of E block.

The upper tier will be in use for the first time at the Newcastle United match on Saturday, March 31.

Managing director Shaun Harvey said: "We had hoped the roof would be in place by the end of February, but it quickly became apparent that would not be the case.

"Conditions have been very difficult to work in when the builders haven't had free use of the site.

"Every match we have got to arrange to get people in and out of the ground, reserve areas for car parking and clean up afterwards. Then there has been the wet weather."

Completion of the new stand will give Valley Parade a capacity of 25,000, the highest for 40 years.

City are in the process of sending renewal forms to their 13,000 season ticket holders and invite application from non-season ticket holders.

They are also offering a new five year season ticket for the cost of four years with no increase during that period. "In other words," said Richmond, "if you buy a season ticket for five years you get one year free. The five year season tickets are available for all parts of the ground."
