Keighley-based communications specialists Link Telecom is using a £250,000 funding package to expand its business in its home town.

The firm, with financial support from Yorkshire Bank, has just consolidated its operations by buying a new head office complete with fully equipped presentation rooms.

Based in North Street with 15 staff, the new site is designed to show potential customers what they would get from any given telephone system.

Founder and managing director Michael Bower said: "Business users all too often buy telephone systems without actually seeing one in action. Our new demonstration suite is fully equipped to demonstrate ISDN telephone lines for voice and data applications.

"We are also offering mobile data demonstrations and training. Yorkshire Bank's funding lets us buy the property and refurbish the facilities in order to move forward."

Founded in Keighley in 1987, the company has become the largest independent telephone retailer in Yorkshire, employing 65 people across the region.

Link Telecom's rapid growth has seen it establish shops in Leeds, Bradford, Barnsley, Wakefield, Halifax, Skipton and Huddersfield.

The firm has had an account with Yorkshire Bank since its formation. The bank's relationship manager, John Reeves, said: "Link Telecom is a real success story for the region - its combination of technology solutions, plus a strong customer service ethos, is winning customers and keeping them."

Link Telecom is now setting up a business customer outlet in Kirkstall, Leeds, with a demonstration room.
