Otley Town... 0 Brighouse Town...5

OTLEY Town entertained Brighouse Town and were well beaten by a team that could prove to be top of the table at the end of the season. Brighouse and Ovenden are fighting over the top position and have yet to meet in the league.

It was always going to be a hard game and Otley who had narrowly lost to Brighouse just before Christmas did well to contain the game in the first half, but rarely threatened Andy Stewart in the visitors goal.

Despite some good goalkeeping by Iain Taylor and defending, in particular by Paul North and Tom Dixon, the Brighouse forwards proved too much for the Otley boys and Wayne Gibson scored two before half-time.

In the second-half Shaun Walsh, the league's leading scorer scored a hat trick.

This week, Town entertain Littletown in a league fixture. Kick-off 2.30pm

Wetherby Ath Res...1 Otley Town Res...5

THE enforced mid-winter break over the last few weeks caused by the weather, seems to have rested Town's players and lifted their enthusiasm for the latter part of the season.

The game started well for Town, when Steve Boddy went on a solo run, scoring from an acute angle after only two minutes.

Town's second came inside 10 minutes, after the ball was laid into the path of Shaun McMurrough by Danny Emsley and his dipping strike from 25 yards gave the Wetherby 'keeper no chance.

Town's movement off the ball was excellent, with veteran midfielder and captain Mark Currie pulling the strings.

Currie got the third goal with a fine header from a Martin Gilkes corner, although a fightback was on the cards when Wetherby pulled a goal back after good pressure on the Town defence.

The second-half was very much like the first, with Town having most of the possession and scoring opportunities and Currie got his second goal of the game, forcing the ball home from close range, after a great free kick from Gilkes had hit the post.

Town's fifth and last goal was deservedly scored again by Mark Currie, giving him his first hat-trick since he played junior football.

This week the Reserves are away to Pateley Bridge. (Meet at club 12.30pm kick-off 2.15pm).

Otley Town 'A'...2 Beckwithshaw Res...1

OTLEY Town's 'A' team were drawn at home in the second round of the Alverton Trophy to a Beckwithshaw team that had made several changes since the last meeting between the two teams, only a month ago.

That result ended in a 5-1 win for Town's youngsters and no doubt Beckwithshaw had recruited well to

strengthen their side.

For the second week running, Town came from behind and with more determination than skill, won comfortably in the end.

Beckwithshaw took the lead after a rare defensive lapse and their centre

forward made sure that the mistake was well punished. Town rallied in the second-half and two goals in the last twenty minutes sealed the game for them.

The equaliser came after Matthew Budden's shot was deflected and Dominique Blair volleyed home.

The Otley midfield produced a good move which resulted in Adam Cater providing a measured through ball for Dominique Blair to knock in the winner.

This week Otley Town 'A' entertain Harlow Hill Reserves. Kick off is at 2.15pm.
