THE president of the Ilkley and District Motor Club, Chris Trindall, of Burley-in-Wharfedale, and his wife Ann, welcomed over 160 members and guests to the club's annual dinner dance and prize presentation at the Craiglands Hotel, Ilkley.

The magnificent display of awards was once again a credit to the hard work of Wendy and Nigel Sykes and is the envy of many other clubs. After an enjoyable meal, retiring club secretary Iain Tullie announced the winners of the awards which were presented by Mrs Ann Tindall, following which she was presented with a bouquet of flowers in the club's colours of mauve and white by Mrs Sheena Tullie. The popular tombola was this year organised by Rupert North and Emma Sykes.

Major award winners were: Postlethwaite Trophy - Henry Kitching (best competitor on club nights); Kleber Concorde Trophy - Karen Spencer (best lady competitor on club nights); Trade Members Cup - Ian Waddington (closed to club autotest champion); Clifford Hobson Memorial Trophy - Malcolm Rainforth (closed to club pct champion); G E Milnes Fastest Time Trophy - Bob Moorhouse (second overall, closed to club autotest champion); G E Milnes President's Trophy - Bob Moorhouse (second overall, closed to club pct champion); Skipton Rally Trophy - Charlie Binns and Jamie Forrest (navigational scatter champions); Brookes Trophy - Hannah Thorpe (best lady in navigational scatter championship); Yorkshire Evening Post TT Number One Trophy - Jean Appleton (champion road rally driver); Yorkshire Evening Post TT Number Two Trophy - Iain Tullie (champion road rally navigator).

Payne and Robinson Trophy - Clive Baty (champion stage rally driver); Bastow Trophy - Dave Lambourne (champion stage rally navigator); Fred Waite Trophy - David Mosey (club autotest champion); Rosedale Trophy - Rupert North (club production car trial champion); Shell Oils Cup - Henry Kitching (leading Larkspeed competitor); Abe Farrar Memorial Trophy - Emma Sykes (leading 'under-25' Larkspeed competitor); M S Tullie Trophy - Francis Tindall (best 'over-45' competitor); Scott Practice Bowl - Mark Tindall (best 'under-23' competitor); Scribe of the Year - John Beardsmore (most meritorious write-ups for Newsletter); Kath and Charles Smith Memorial Trophy - Francis and Jane Tindall (awarded to a couple for their work on behalf of the club).

J S Duxbury Memorial Salver - Iain Tullie (promoting the club's name); English Trophy - Richard Wood (best gentleman marshal); Mangham and Moore Trophy - Janet Kitching (best lady marshal); Special Reliability Trophy - Ernie Wilson (second best gentleman marshal); Hemingway Trophy - Ann Tindall (second best lady marshal); Triers Trophy - Peter Hepworth (most consistent trier); Holmes Trophy - Henry Kitching (best all-round club member); Bill Whiteley Memorial Salver - Henry Carr (service to the president during the year); Triumph Trophy - Graham Hepworth (member scoring most group points on motor-cycle events); Ilkley Rosedale Trophy - Nigel Sykes (club spring and hill climb champion); Club Colours - Ann Tindall (services to the club).

Awards were also presented to the 32 members of the Larkspeed League team led by Jamie Forrest, which had won the Yorkshire-based league for an unprecedented sixth year in succession.
