Dan Petrescu wants to become a manager - so he can dish out the tough orders like the one that bombed him out of Bradford City.

The Romanian comes face to face with the Bantams at Southampton tomorrow for the first time since he was told he was surplus to requirements by Valley Parade boss Jim Jefferies.

But Petrescu has no bitter thoughts of revenge. Instead he is dreaming of one day having the chance to follow Jefferies' lead and landing a hot-seat job.

Petrescu said: "Jim Jefferies had to make a decision about me and I've always stuck by the manager's decision because I'm a professional.

"When I'm a manager I will have to make decisions that will hurt some people. I will accept that duty like I do now.

"I would love to be a manager one day and to do it in England would be perfect.

"You don't know where the future lies and you have to be in the right place at the right time to get the breaks.

"The Bradford manager made the decision to sell players and I wish him all the best.

"I'm at Southampton now so I don't think too much about any other club.

"But I would like Bradford to stay up for the players.

"They gave me a fantastic time and helped me a lot."

Petrescu missed training for a couple of days this week as he shook off a slight thigh strain. But he is raring to make only his second start in a Saints shirt.

"Glenn Hoddle has been telling us that this will be a very dangerous game.

"I looked at Southampton's results before I came and they lost at home to Coventry, Manchester City and Middlesbrough.

"I don't think tomorrow's game will be pretty to watch because Bradford will fight for everything. We must approach it right.

"It's looking dodgy for them. Everyone thinks it's impossible for them to stay up but they think seven more wins will be enough.

"It's difficult but it's possible because they've played most of the top teams and still have to face all the bottom sides.

"Their manager thinks they've got a chance and I know they will keep fighting until it's mathematically certain."

Hassan Kachloul is serving a one-match ban and Saints have doubts about Kevin Davies, Claus Lundekvam and Matt Oakley.

Davies is the biggest worry with an ankle injury and Jo Tessem stands by.

Hoddle said: "It would be nice to get the double over Bradford. When you beat teams home and away then you are on the right lines."
