Internet business, festive lights, marketing and a jobs survey are among regeneration projects planned for central Keighley.

The Town Centre Management Group is applying for money from Bradford council's regeneration division and the European Objective 2.

It hopes to get Euro cash to fund Keighley College training in "e-commerce" - selling on the Internet - for town centre businesses.

A second Euro project would involve marketing Keighley across the country as a tourist destination, building on existing attractions and emphasising the town's heritage.

Town Centre Management is seeking council cash to develop the Keighley Pride marketing initiative by employing a project worker.

The hope is that Keighley Pride will in future be spearheaded by local shopkeepers rather than council staff.

Other regeneration bids are for a survey to discover the number of jobs in the town centre, and a Keighley Asian Business Forum plan to buy Festive Lights.
