One of Bradford's best-known car dealerships is celebrating a £750,000 revamp.

The Colin Appleyard group of Suzuki car and motorcycle dealerships has improved its Keighley showroom at Cornmill Garage in Halifax Road, Keighley, and built a new head office on the site.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Stanley King will attend a VIP opening night at the site next Thursday.

The investment is a major boost for Keighley because it was feared the group may move out of the area and set up its headquarters in Huddersfield. Colin Appleyard, the proprietor of the company which has Suzuki car showrooms in Keighley and Huddersfield and motorcycle dealerships in Keighley and Leeds, said: "Keighley has been good to me and I am delighted that we are staying in Keighley. We have invested £750,000 in the new facilities which is a great deal of money for us. It shows that we have confidence in the future."

Colin Appleyard launched his business as a one-man motorcycle shop in Keighley on January 1, 1971. In 1979, he opened a car dealership in Keighley followed by a Huddersfield showroom in 1984 and a Leeds motorcycle dealership in 1991.
