Police were today quizzing passers-by near to where a teenager was raped.

The 16-year-old was assaulted on Wednesday morning as she walked through a car park between the disused Spotted House pub and the Airedale Club in Manningham.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Sedgwick, of Toller Lane CID, said he was interested in talking to anyone who was in the area at around 9.15am.

He said: "People would have been going to work at that time.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who saw anybody acting suspiciously in the area or on any previous occasions."

Officers were particularly keen to talk to a woman walking through the car park as the girl was attacked and who may have seen the suspects.

The woman was described as white, in her 50s, with black, curly hair going grey and a large build. She was wearing a bright blue coat, white skirt and was possibly carrying a shoulder bag.

The incident took place after the girl got off a bus in Keighley Road. She took a short cut alone through the pub grounds in Keighley Road leading to Cunliffe Road.

There she was approached by two white teenagers. They both engaged her in conversation before one took her to a secluded part of the car park where she was sexually assaulted.

Police were informed after the girl reported the attack at a nearby college. She is being interviewed by specially trained officers.

The teenager who carried out the assault was described as 15 years old, 5ft 5in, with short black hair gelled and stuck up at the front. He had a square face with dark brown eyes and thick eyebrows. He was described as being olive skinned, stocky and was wearing a black shire jacket with a pocket on the front which was rough to touch, and grey, possibly school, trousers.

The second male was slimmer than the first, 5ft 1in, aged around 15, with bright blonde hair. He had a pale face with freckles and was wearing a white jacket with blue stripes on the sleeve, a black jumper and trainers.
