Second placed Nelson hoped to capitalise on last week's slip-up by top team Embassy when they met this week - but it was not to be.

Embassy showed tremendous spirit to beat the Champions 7-3 on their own patch. Peter Kirby was untouchable with his full house including a 21-13, 21-15 victory over David Ayrton. Carl White defeated both Michael Wrigley and Catherine Lawson and Neil Foley stopped Wrigley 21-15, 21-17.

Nelson fought back with wins for Ayrton against White (11-21, 21-19, 21-12) and 21-14, 21-15 against Foley. Lawson beat Foley (14-21, 21-18, 21-19) but a 16-21, 21-15, 21-14 doubles victory for Kirby and White against Ayrton and Wrigley confirmed a good win for the leaders.

High point of the clash between Oakworth and Terrier's 'A' came in the first set when Terrier's Paul Beck just got the better of this season's form man Ben Lowe to register a 21-16, 13-21, 23-21 victory.

Steve Smith chalked up a point for Oaks and Steve Busfield grabbed two but the Terriers just managed to shade it 6-4 with a doubles win for Beck and Tony Boyd 21-17, 21-11 against Lowe and Busfield.

In Division Two the relegation trap door is gaping for the Bhoys following two heavy defeats, one of which was an 8-2 reversal against fellow strugglers Cononley Sports. Things looked good for the bottom team when Abid Hussain beat Michael Mitchell 21-15, 17-21, 21-14, but only another Hussain win, 21-16, 10-21, 21-16 against Eric Hudson troubled the score board on the Bhoys behalf as the visitors ran riot. Stuart Maude's first maximum of the season including a 21-11, 21-11 defeat of Ryan Foulds.

Embassy 'B' pulled off a 7-3 home victory against strugglers Johnson & Johnson, but not before the Gargrave boys had given them a fright. They stormed to a 3-2 lead at the half way stage with good wins for John Pullen, 21-18, 21-19 against Derek Briggs and Alan Ripley, 21-19, 21-17 over George Fletcher along the way. Embassy fought back, however, and a full house for Clive Sherratt that included a 21-14, 21-17 defeat of Pullen mean they stay favourites to lift the trophy at the season's end.

Terrier's 'C' kept up the pressure at the top with a resounding 9-1 defeat of their 'B' team who are themselves struggling in the relegation zone. Mark Emmott's treble included a 21-18, 18-21, 21-7 defeat of Paul Lister and Tom Lacey also weighed in with a max, along the way getting the better of Ronnie Farrar 21-17, 21-13. Lister grabbed the lone point for the 'B' team with a 21-15, 21-14 victory over Stuart Myers.

In Division Three the performance of the week must go to Ilkley Road 'B' who visited top team Wilsden, out of sight of the rest and already having inflicted an 8-2 home defeat on the visitors earlier in the season, and came away with an excellent draw. Wilsden shot into an early 3-0 lead with wins for Adam Broadbent 21-7, 20-22, 21-11 against Steve Brigg, Luke Broadbent, 21-19, 21-14 against Karl McIntyre and Dave Broadbent, 18-21, 21-18, 21-17 against Chris Dunn. However, the Riddlesden team mounted a counter offensive with a couple for Brigg against Luke and Dave Broadbent, a superb 14-21, 21-17, 21-6 Dunn victory over Luke Broadbent and a stunning doubles win for Dunn and McIntyre, 23-21, 21-19 against Adam and Luke Broadbent to square the scores at the end of the match.

Jordan Ross earned South Craven their only point away at Ilkley Road 'C' with a 19-21, 22-20, 21-15 success against Mark Waterhouse as the home team cruised to a 9-1 victory and with it cemented themselves in to the second promotion place. Graeme Waterhouse lead by example with a faultless maximum to put himself fourth in the averages with 21 wins from 27 at this stage. Chris Gill followed his captain's example, but had to work hard against Tom Fryett before winning 19-21, 21-11, 22-20.
