Jayne Somma thought someone was pulling her leg when a film company approached her hairdressing salon for help.

Little did she know at the time that the salon's name would be a major part of a new film tipped for global success.

Jayne has run Cut Above, in Keighley's Church Street, for 11 years.

And now, with the help of "Blow Dry" the little salon is set for international recognition.

Jayne says: "It's not every day something like this happens to you. When they first contacted me I thought somebody was pulling my leg.

"They asked if we were aware of 'The Full Monty' then said Simon Beaufoy was doing a new film about hairdressing set in Keighley.

"She said she wanted to call one of the salons in the film Cut Above. I said I'd have to think about it and came off the phone laughing."

But receiving a letter from the film company three weeks later she realised the offer was genuine and accepted.

The salon of the same name is a major part of the film, which is set in Keighley but filmed in Batley and Bradford.

It is mentioned throughout and wins the British hairdressing championships.

Jayne and husband Paul were invited to a London cast and crew screening in August to see it appear in the credits.

They also got to rub shoulders with cast members Warren Clarke and Alan Rickman.

Jayne says: "I don't know why they chose this name - they obviously liked it. I hope the film does as well as 'The Full Monty'."
