West Yorkshire holidaymakers will be able to jet off to Spanish sunspots next winter from Yeadon Airport for the first time. Fifty thousand extra passengers are expected as Thomson Holidays launches holidays in Palma and Alicante from Yeadon. The flights will be operated by Britannia Airways using modified Boeing 737 jets.

Lack of coke to burn in the stove in the parcels office at Bradford Forster Square Station today led to protests by parcels clerks at having to work in the cold. A telephone caller, who would not give his name, told the Telegraph & Argus that there was a "strike" at Forster Square. "There is no strike," said a parcels clerk today. "But it is very cold working in here without any heating." Another man said they had to keep leaving the office to warm their hands where there was some heat.
