A karate instructor has gone on trial accused of raping one young girl and indecently assaulting another.

Ian Siree, 45, who was involved with various clubs in Bradford, including one on the Holme Wood estate, claimed the allegations were "absolute fantasy" when he was quizzed by police in July last year.

Siree, formerly of Hartland Road, Holme Wood, but now living in North Wales, pleaded not guilty to a charge of rape and indecent assault relating to a 14-year-old girl. He also denied three charges of indecent assault against a 12-year-old. The allegations do not relate to Siree's work as a karate instructor.

Prosecutor Mushtaq Khokhar told Bradford Crown Court yesterday that when Siree, a doorman, was questioned by police he suggested that the girls might have made up the allegations.

"He said it was all an absolute fantasy on their part," said Mr Khokhar.

Siree is alleged to have raped the 14-year-old girl after he grabbed hold of her and pinned her down on the floor.

Mr Khokhar said the girl described how Siree had one hand over her mouth and used his body to restrain her from moving or getting away. During the attack Siree allegedly told the girl he would take her shopping the next day.

In a later incident Siree, who was married with two sons, is alleged to have grabbed the girl round the neck before pushing her to the floor and indecently assaulting her.

The second girl claims that Siree indecently assaulted her on three occasions.

During one of the incidents he is alleged to have pinned her down and tied her hands with something like a shoelace.

"She hit him round the face with her hands and kicked out at him," said Mr Khokhar. "She managed to push him off and ran out of the room."

The trial is expected to last into next week.
