A retired Bradford teacher had real cause to shout 'house' as a winner of a major competition.

Brian Otto, 54, of Heaton, was given the keys to a new home in Drighlington worth up to £80,000 in a competition run by Leeds United. A supporter of Bradford City's rivals for the last 40 years, he said: "It doesn't get any better than that."

Mr Otto, a season ticket holder and chairman of the Bradford branch of the Leeds United Supporters' Club, was among six finalists who took to the pitch at Elland Road before the victory over Chelsea on Sataurday.

Each had entered the Win A Home competition explaining why they were a supporter of the club.

During half time they were led out and given a set of keys with one set that opened the locks to a door.

Brian said: "I could tell that my key was turning both ways but I couldn't get the door open. When the door finally did open I ran through with my fists in the air and the atmosphere was tremendous.

"It was just like I had scored a goal and what made it even more special was that I was at the ground of my favourite team."

It was the first time Leeds United had offered such a prestigious prize - a luxury two-bedroom home with a fitted kitchen and bathroom.

"It was quite a day," added Brian. "It was really exciting and happened with a lot of razzamatazz.

"All my family and friends were there to watch me.

He added: "We celebrated in our favourite Bradford pub after I had been to see the house. I still can't believe I have won and have been on a bit of a high ever since."

Leeds United's Nadine Burgess said: "Our aim was to offer the fans the ultimate dream prize of a new home."
