Organisers of a one-off dance event in Bradford fear ticket sales may be affected following the riots in Lidget Green.

World renowned Latin American dancers Matthew and Nicole Cutler will perform at the Lidget Green Conservative Club in Legrams Lane on Saturday night.

But Gladys Thornburn, of Kensington School of Dance, said she was worried people would not attend because of the Easter Sunday disturbances.

"We are very lucky to have booked them to perform on Saturday night, but one thing that is worrying me is the trouble which took place in the area," she said.

"I think people are worried about coming out, but security has been stepped up and I'm sure there won't be any more problems."

Matthew and Nicole, both in their mid-twenties, are World, European, United Kingdom, British and International Latin American dance champions.

They are stars of the show Burn the Floor and feature in videos demonstrating their unique talents.

Matthew is from London and his wife Nicole is from South Africa.

"It is a lively event and will be a spectacular show," said Mrs Thornburn.

"I'm very excited about it because this couple have never performed in the North before and it is great that Bradford people will get to see them."

The couple have made regular television appearances and have just finished touring in Japan and Hong Kong.

Mrs Thornburn added that it was through her own and her husband, Herbert's, dancing connections that the couple agreed to come to Bradford.

She said they organised the event as a thank- you to their one hundred pupils.

"There is nobody else in the area that does it and it gives our pupils chance to see dancing at its very best," she said.

Tickets, which must be bought in advance, are available on (01274) 721974.

The event starts at 8pm.
