Dougie Lampkin triumphed eventually after a poor start to the weekend at the world trial course in Belgium.

The Silsden rider started badly on the Mons course in Round three, day one, of the World Outdoor Trials Championship on Saturday but he recovered to win the Sunday event.

The defeat on Saturday was his first first of the new outdoor season. Graham Jarvis set the standard on the first lap with 14, better by one penalty than eventual winner Takahisa Fujinami of Japan.

Lampkin said: "The day started badly and got steadily worse, we made some changes to the Montesa after the first lap but that had no real effect. Every time I tried to do something it went wrong."

Lampkin responded by winning on Sunday, leaving Satu-day winner Fujinami in his wake. Jarvis could not maintain his Saturday form and dropped to eighth ahead of Steve Colley.

After three rounds, Lampkin has 110 points with Fujinami on 88 and Marc Freixa on 85.

Meanwhile, Ilkley turned on the heat at Hartshead Moor Services on the M62 on Sunday grabbing a stack of Larkspeed Interclub Championship points in the Airedale & Pennine Motor Club qualifying round.

The club managed 22 tests for the 37 strong entry and overall winner was Halifax's former British champion David Haigh.

Ilkley fielded a strong team, with Ian Waddington, Mark Trodden and Graham Hepworth winning their classes.

Henry Kitching was third in his class making good times. Alwoodley team member Steve Morten gave Hepworth a hard time in his class. Ilkley now have 174 points in hand over Yorkshire Sports car Club.

Addingham's Mark Dale was in action at Elvington where he scored two wins and two thirds. Leeds rider Stuart Gregory had three runner-up placings.
