What a difference a year makes!

Cowling, who would have been relegated last season if the First Division had not been extended, now sit proudly on top of the Craven League table.

They were at home to Sutton and made 166 for four, skipper Steve Mitchell (49 not out) and Martyn Dalby (37 not out) being the mainstays.

Then Ian Watson (5-17) was irresistible with the ball as Sutton were dismissed for 108.

Oakworth are second, two points adrift of Cowling, after beating joint leaders Foulridge by eight wickets.

The Cure Hill side won the toss and restricted their opponents to 128 for eight, Michael Scarborough taking seven for 61 off 23 overs.

In reply, Robert Hopkinson continued his form of the previous week for Oakworth by scoring 64, Steve Hartley (39) also contributing well.

Embsay have joined Foulridge on 11 points after playing hosts to Skipton CI.

The Shires Lane side batted first and struggled to 135, Duncan Bullough anchoring things with 46 and Mr Extras adding 31 as John Drake (4-29), Nick Williamson and Zuffar Iqbal (three each) shared the wickets.

The men from Sandylands were under the cosh from the start, however, when they batted, five of their players failing to trouble the scorers as they crashed to 28 for six.

Things didn't improve much from there, no player reaching double figures as they collapsed for 41, Steve Speak taking five for 15 and Nasir Hussain three for 13.

A lost toss didn't help Carleton, Pendle Forest smashing 269 for five, openers Peter Atkinson (78) and Nick Swinbank (67) putting on 137 in 24 overs.

The Ramper Park side could only muster 91 in reply, Neville Allan making 49 not out and Paul Hakin taking three for eight in 7.4 overs.

Long Lee couldn't cope with Barrowford's John Hargreaves (5-25) and were dismissed for 81, losing by five wickets, and the Bronte derby went the way of home side Haworth.

They batted first and made 154.

West End were all out for 91, Rowell completing a fine all-round display with six for 16.

Things are tight for second place in the Second Division, but newcomers Cullingworth have edged in front following their demolition of Gargrave.

Gargrave were shot out for 40, Cullingworth triumphing by nine wickets.

Level in second place three points behind are Airedale, Chatburn and Ingrow St John's. Giles Wilmore was the hero for Airedale with eight for eight as Keighley Tech were scuttled for just 22, Airedale winning by ten wickets.

Chatburn were given three points when Barnoldswick couldn't raise a side, and Saints defeated Denholme by 41 runs in a low-scoring affair.

Oakworth beat visitors Glusburn by seven wickets, chiefly thanks to Jason Lockley (5-38) and Wayne Fradley (64).
