OTLEY RUFC rounded off the season in the traditional way with a mixed team playing the Colts and in perfect conditions both sides threw the ball about to score some exciting tries in an end to end game.

The dinner afterwards attracted a record attendance with the clubhouse bursting at the seams.

Director of Rugby Mike Barnett (pictured below) announced his retirement after many years as player, captain, coach and administrator in which he had seen the club rise to the top echelons of the game.

Chairman Paul Jacques thanked everybody for their work over the season and congratulated the first team squad and coaches on retaining national Division One status. The attendance showed the club is in good heart and with the Junior Section progressing with success in the County Cup Competitions Colts (semi-finalist), Under-17s (finalists), Under-16s (finalists), Under-15s (winners) it augers well for the future.

The president Eric Bryden presented the annual awards to the following:

President's Award - Sue Henry and Sue Gamble (ladies and entertainment's committee). Ladies' Award - Tim Westlake-Bryant (most tries). Colts Captain's Award - Marcus Dracup. Most Improved Colt - Duncan Setterington. Young Player of the Year - Adam Pogson. Most Improved Player - Ian Judson. Players' Player of the Year - Ian Carroll, who had already received the supporters award.

As usual there were some amusing speeches by the captains.
