A family forced to flee their dream home in Spain are waiting for news which could change their lives.

The Telegraph & Argus reported how Paul and Jayne Wilson returned to Bradford penniless after racist thugs forced them from their home in a remote Spanish village.

The couple and their five children left Callosa D'en Sarria, near Benidorm, after being taunted and attacked by local villagers.

They were forced to move in with Mr Wilson's father in a three-bedroom home in Laisterdyke.

But the family are hoping for good news from the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund following the article in the T&A.

Mr Wilson, who was in the RAF for 12 years and received two campaign medals for the Gulf War and Northern Ireland, said the family were waiting on tenterhooks for a decision.

"We were contacted by the RAF Association and it was fantastic news," he said.

"We were told there was a chance we could receive a substantial amount of money which would help us to get a house and furnish it.

"We have been living in a caravan outside my father's house ever since we arrived back and it is really getting to us."

Joe Froggatt, of the Bradford branch of the RAF Association, said: "We do everything we can to help ex-servicemen in trouble and this seems like a very worthy cause.

"There is no doubt that we will be able to help this family.

"I will be pushing to get them a new home and the contents to go inside, but the decision is not mine."

The RAF Benevolent Fund met this week and the family are now waiting for the decision.

Mrs Wilson said: "We are just keeping our fingers crossed that it will be good news. It would be great to have our own home again."
