Chart-topping pop trio Atomic Kitten have had to dramatically cancel all forthcoming shows.

The all-girl band, who will feature in tomorrow's Bradford-based Top of the Pops show, are following doctor's orders by taking a month's rest.

But the decision, taken because of what the group themselves describe as a virus, won't affect the broadcast from Pennington's.

A BBC Music Live spokeswoman explained: "Atomic Kitten have pre-recorded their performance for the show, and that performance will still be shown.

"I haven't had a chance to see the news today, but it won't affect the Top of the Pops appearance."

It is thought the girls' punishing promotional schedule, following the number one success of single Whole Again, is to blame for the illness.

With a follow-up single, a cover of the Bangles' 1989 hit Eternal Flame, due for release in July, Natasha, Jenny and Liz are under pressure to get well soon.

Being filmed at Pennington's today and tomorrow, the Bradford TOTP special will see a host of stars from the 1980s, including Roxy Music and Ultravox, rubbing shoulders with top modern bands like Spooks.
