Five men, including three brothers, have appeared before Bradford magistrates in connection with violent incidents in the Lidget Green area of the city last month.

Ajaz Saddiq, 22, and Sirferaz Saddiq, 25, both of Waverley Road, Great Horton, Bradford, are both charged with causing a fire at the Second West pub in Cemetery Road with intent to endanger life.

They are also charged with burglary with intent to steal or cause damage, violent disorder and racially aggravated provocation of violence. Both were remanded in custody to appear before the city's Crown Court.

Their brother Shahid Saddiq, 19, of the same address, is charged with violent disorder and was bailed to appear in court again on June 22.

In separate hearings two other men had their cases adjourned until July 20 and were released on bail.

Imran Ahmed, 19, of Waverley Road, Great Horton, is charged with violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon.

John Softley, 37, of Kildare Crescent, Allerton, Bradford, is charged with violent disorder.

All the alleged offences are said to have been committed on April 15.

Reporting restrictions were not lifted.
