Baildon took advantage of Pudsey Congs inactivity to take over as the new Secure Trust Bank Bradford League Divi-sion One leaders.

They defeated bottom team Brighouse by four wickets to move a point ahead of the defending champions who have a game in hand.

Left-arm spinner Mushtaq Ahmed (5-70) and opening batsman Colin Chapman (61) were the key performers for Baildon.

Ahmed ensured that Brighouse were only able to muster a score of 169 for nine despite a good knock of 67 from opener Richard Nichols.

Pudsey St Lawrence are now third - 15 points behind Congs - after opener Matthew Thompson hit an unbeaten 102 to steer them to an emphatic nine-wicket triumph at Gomersal.

Thompson struck two sixes and 17 fours. He also shared in a first wicket stand of 159 with Tariq Aziz (76) as St Lawrence overhauled a Gomersal score of 204 for seven which owed much to the efforts of former Yorkshire and Somerset player Jeremy Batty who struck 76.

Thompson was one of four centurions in the top flight on a day when runs at last flowed for the batsmen.

Two of the centuries came in the high-scoring draw between Cleckheaton and Spen Victoria.

South African Derek Brand made an unbeaten 104 - his maiden Bradford League ton - as Cleckheaton piled up 257 for two and Spen's Grant Lambert struck 127 as his side totalled 231 for seven in reply.

Brand hit six sixes and 11 fours while Lambert punctuated his first three figure score of the season with two sixes and 16 fours.

Spen looked well placed to win the game while Lambert was at the wicket but the picture changed dramatically once Cleckheaton skipper Paul Booth lulled the Aussie into a crude slog which resulted in him being stumped by Mark Gill.

Yeadon's Damon Gormley made an unbeaten 108 as he sparked a recovery which led his side from the depths of 52 for four to a challenging total of 206 for five against Bradford & Bingley but it wasn't enough to stave off defeat.

Alex Stead struck a 37-ball half-century to give the Bradford & Bingley a reply a flying start and skipper Pat Fordham followed up with a forceful 75 not out as his side claimed a six-wicket win to climb out of the bottom three. They swap places with Yeadon who are now in the relegation zone.

Undercliffe continued their impressive revival under new skipper Martin Kellaway as they defeated Farsley by six wickets to record their third straight win.

John Sadler was the key figure in their latest success. He claimed three wickets - including the scalp of Farsley's top scorer Chris Taylor (95) - and followed up with a knock of 60 as Undercliffe eased past the home side's total of 202 for nine.

Yorkshire batsman Anthony McGrath returned to action after a groin operation and made 35 as East Bierley defeated Hanging Heaton by six wickets.

Richard Gould (74) spearheaded the successful run chase after Pakistani paceman Jaffer Nazir (6-70) had helped restrict Hanging Heaton to a score of 182.
