A Bradford man appeared in Court charged with assisting an offender and intending to pervert the course of justice.

The charges against Mohammed Nazir Iqbal, 22, of Salt Street in Manningham, were said by prosecutor Dick Hodgson to be a "by-product" of an incident which took place in Keighley in December.

The court heard that a warrant for Iqbal's arrest had also been released in connection with a charge of assaulting a police officer on November 29.

Both Mr Hodgson and defence solicitor Mohammed Hussain agreed an adjournment was necessary to allow further information about the case to be collected before it could proceed.

Matters were adjourned and Iqbal was released on conditional bail to appear before Bingley Magistrates' Court on Thursday, January 3, in relation to the warrant.

He was released on unconditional bail to appear before Bingley magistrates on January 23 in relation to the charges of assisting an offender and intending to pervert the cause of justice.
