Representatives of Bradford's twin towns were present at a ceremony behind the Law Courts, when seven trees, Japanese Rowan and Tibetan Cherry, were planted to commemorate the Queen's Silver Jubilee. They were in the city to discuss how to widen the scope of friendly relations between their towns and Bradford.

More than 7,000 of the applicants on Bradford Corporation's waiting list for houses to whom questionnaires were sent last month have not replied, and if no replies are received by the end of the month, the Housing sub-committee will presume that they no longer wish to stay on the list. It was reported that 16,631 cards were sent to those on the waiting list at December 31, and of these 9,391 had been returned by March 1, the closing date. Of these, 817 indicated that they wished their names to be withdrawn from the list.
