A HOLIDAYMAKER from Guiseley was amazed to read about events in Otley when she bought a magazine in Thailand.
Eileen Morgan was holidaying in the Thai city of Hua Hin with husband Lionel, in February, when she picked up a free English language magazine.
Flicking through the pages of the Hua Hin Observer, she was surprised to find details of a fundraising event in Otley - which were also carried by the Wharfedale Observer earlier this year.
Mrs Morgan, of Renton Avenue in Guiseley, said: "I was sitting out there on the beach, with temperatures of about 33 degrees, when the name Otley leapt out of the page."
The article - in a column of tales from around the world - told of the 50-hour Harry Potter readathon which took place at the Bowling Green pub in January.
The event raised more than £5,000 for charity.
Mr and Mrs Morgan, who have been to Thailand several times, say they have never before come across Otley news while on holiday.
