The "biggest sporting event in Skipton's history" takes place tomorrow, as the rugby side strive to get to Twickenham.

The union side entertain Heath in the semi-final of the Powergen Junior Vase with a trip to the national stadium the prize on offer.

Coach Gerald Corrigan picks from a full-strength sidebut knows it will a tough test.

"This is going to be a real challenge," he said. "They are a strong side who are top of their division and used to winning. We are hoping to take their winning feeling away, the players know how big a game this is, and what it means to everyone concerned.

"This isn't just the biggest game in the club's history, it is probably the biggest in the town's sporting history and maybe even in the whole of Craven.

"To play a final at the national stadium for the sport would be fantastic."

He said there could be as many as 1,000 in attendance the game. Nearly 500 turned up for the semi-final when Midlanders Daventry were defeated.

"Malton and Norton got the best part of 1,000 for their semi-final last year," said Corrigan. "And we would be looking for the same on Saturday. I know Heath will be bringing a few, so we want to make sure we can out-shout them by having even more."

He added home advantage could be the difference between the sides, as Skipton make their final push for Twickers glory.

"This is the last year we are eligible for this competition," he added.

"We will be in the intermediate vase next year, and there are some very strong sides at that level, so this is our big chance for a wonderful day out for fans, players and the management here.

"This club has achieved so much on and off the field in recent years and it all comes to a head in this game."

In the quarter-final, Daventry lost 16-0 in a battling performance on a mudbath of a pitch to set up this tie with Halifax-based Heath.

Players have been rested to ensure an injury-free squad takes to the Sandylands pitch tomorrow.
