Police have compiled an e-fit image of an armed robber who held up a petrol service station with a shotgun.

The man struck at the Sunwin filling station in Station Road, Cross Hills, in the early hours of Saturday.

Skipton police say the man brandished the shotgun and forced the cashier to hand over cash.

He is described as white, aged between 30 and 40 years, about 6ft 2in tall, slim and with a tidy full beard. He was wearing glasses and a woollen type hat,

Skipton detectives are liasing with officers in Keighley, where a similar armed raid happened about 24 hours later. The Keighley robber struck at the Almar filling station in Hard Ings Road at about 2.30am on Sunday, pistol-whipping the cashier with a handgun.

He hit the cashier on the cheek, as he grabbed cash from the till and walked out towards the Lawkholme area of Keighley, said a Keighley police spokesman.

He is described as white, aged between 30 and 40 years, about 5ft 10in tall, and was wearing dark glasses, a baseball cap and a thick brown jacket. He spoke with a gruff voice.
