Bradford singer turned Pop Idol impresario Danny Tetley is calling on Gareth Gates' army of fans to help a young cancer sufferer.

They are being urged to attend a fundraising show - set to feature a video message from the East Bowling pop star - in aid of six-year-old fan Robyn Brooks.

Enlisted by Gareth's aunt, Angie Baker, to help organise Monday's show, Danny, who made Pop Idol's final 75, has persuaded a clutch of fellow former contestants including David Wilson, pictured left, and Chris Tame, to appear at Bradford's Pennington's nightclub.

Last month Danny, 21, of Shipley, helped raise more than £3,000 in memory of Bradford stabbing victim Lee Firth when he brought some of Pop Idol's biggest names, including heavyweight contestant Rik Waller, to sing at the city's East Ward Labour Club.

Rik cannot attend the latest fundraiser but Danny is set to be be joined on stage by Aaron Bayley, who reached Pop Idol's final ten, Chris Tame and Dave Wilson, as well as Layla Manoocherhri, who was disqualified when it was revealed she was only 15 and too young to take part in the talent contest.

Gareth's sister, Nicola, and cousin, Danny Nichol, both 16, are also due to sing at the show.

Proceeds from the event will go to Robyn's Fund, the appeal launched by the Rochdale youngster's family to help fund a trip to America for the pioneering treatment they hope will save her life.

Danny Tetley, who is preparing to record a duet with Rik Waller for the Kent singer's album later this year, said: "There's never a dull moment with me about and there's going to be a lot of talent on show so hopefully we can raise a lot of cash for this little girl.

"It's such a worthy cause and you never know if you're going to need some help yourself one day.''

He joined Ms Baker's calls for fans of Gareth, who visited Robyn last month, to turn out in force for the show.

She said: "Gareth can't be there himself, although we're hoping he'll do a song on the video message, but wants as many of his fans as possible to go along and support Robyn for him.''

Monday's show at Pennington's is to include a raffle of donated prizes, including items autographed by Gareth, Ant and Dec and the Pop Idol judges; a signed photo and concert tickets for Atomic Kitten; a DVD player; mountain bike and five star hotel break in York.

The event starts at 8pm with tickets, priced £5, available on the door.

l An event staged by Gareth's friends and relations at Asda on Rooley Lane generated £1,100 for Robyn's Fund and a fundraiser at Gala Bingo £300. Donations to Robyn's Fund can be made by calling (01706) 643965/356470, at any Barclay's Bank branch or on-line via www.robynbrooks.co.uk.
