Dougie Lampkin recently took time out from his hectic competition schedule to collect his MBE at Buckingham Palace

The twenty five-year-old multi-World Trials Champion was presented with his MBE for services to sport by Prince Charles on behalf on the Queen, who was out of the country on Commonwealth duties.

Last weekend Dougie slipped back to second place in the World Indoor championship when Albert Cabestany turned on the pressure with another superb winning ride.

Lampkin is still suffering from a painful ankle but he refused to blame that for slipping down the leader board.

"There weren't any excuses Cabestany rode just that little bit better than me. I think realistically the title is now between the two of us, so it should be an interesting finale."

The crunch comes this weekend.

Last night (Thursday) the tour travelled to Italy and the final round takes place in Barcelona on Sunday.

Dougie said: "For the neutral spectator it's been a great championship, which is good, but it isn't just that much fun when you're right in the middle of it all. Cabestany is certainly going well, it's now down to me to do something about it."

After eight of the ten rounds Lampkin was just one point behind the leader.

Table - 1: Cabestany 132, 2: Lampkin 131, 3: Freixa 116, 4: Raga 111, 5: Fujinami 98, 6: Colomer 97.
