Isn't it the case that the simplest ideas are the best? Take as an example the recycling scheme at the car park of The Fleece pub in Cullingworth.

Landlord Barry Shaw lived in America for some years and recycling waste became second nature to him. Back here he set up, in conjunction with Bradford Council, banks for all kinds of re-usable materials.

Since the venture was set up the equivalent of the total yearly waste of 23 households has been collected.

The real key to the success of this idea is the commitment of The Fleece, the council, the parish council and last but not least the general public. They have set a tremendous example to be followed.

As the undoubted success of that one scheme was being praised, Keighley Friends of the Earth were rightly highlighting, and expressing their anger at, the recalling of a decision to exclude large-scale incineration from the council's future waste plan.

Apparently the decision process hadn't gone through the correct procedures. If that is the case then all well and good. It may prevent difficulties further down the line.

We should be thankful that groups like Keighley FoE are watching such issues and making sure we are kept informed and not fleeced over such important issues.
