Bradford's bussing of immigrant schoolchildren was described as "a racialist policy" by Mr M. Ajeeb, chairman of the Bradford Community Relations Council. Mr Ajeeb told Shipley West Labour Party that he was totally opposed to bussing. The local authority had never consulted immigrant parents to see if they wanted their children dispersed among different schools.

One of the first two of Bradford's 11 policewomen to take CID training, 24-year-old Stella Campbell, began her first spell of duty today. She and Policewoman Louise Bornand will work with the CID for three months, and each of their women colleagues will also have three months training. During her tour in a general purpose car today Policewoman Campbell went to Whitehall Crescent, Wyke, where theft of lead pipes had been reported.
