Robbers slashed a man's face after they stole his mobile phone in Bradford city centre last night.

The 20-year-old victim, who is Asian, was set upon by two men in John Street at 8.15pm after they asked him for directions.

One of his attackers grabbed him around the neck while the other searched his pockets and stole his mobile phone and wallet.

Before the pair made off, in what police believe was either a silver Peugeot or Honda Civic, one of the robbers slashed the victim's face.

He was taken to Airedale General Hospital but did not need stitches and was released after treatment for a cut to his face.

Police said the robbers were both Asian males in their 20s.

Witness or anyone with any information should call Bradford South CID on (01274) 376459.
