Residents in Cottingley have welcomed a community scheme which will see at least £20,000 being poured into new facilities.
The scheme, which targets pockets of deprivation in Bradford, was revealed at last night's neighbourhood forum meeting.
The village will be given £5,000 to set up a community action plan which aims to bring young and old together to look at relevant issues, such as crime.
The money can be spent in a variety of ways, including school projects and events with elderly groups. Once the action plan is in place the community will be able to apply for at least £20,000 to set up new projects.
The scheme has been funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and allocated by Bradford Vision.
Tony Roche, of the Cottingley Community Association, said it was a major boost to the area.
A meeting to discuss how the scheme will be held at Cottingley town hall on Wednesday, March 20, at 7.30pm.
