Pupils at Silsden's Hothfield School have combined art, literacy and technology to win double recognition from Education Bradford.

The projects were part of Education Bradford's launch week, which officially started the £360 million ten-year contract to run support services to schools.

Artwork by four former Year Five pupils was chosen for greeting cards to be used by staff at Education Bradford.

The designs had the theme 'turning the world inside out' and Education Bradford's managing director Mark Pattison said: "I was delighted with the quality of the art work in the pictures we used as greetings cards. This is another example of the quality of work being done by pupils in schools across Bradford."

Another four children currently at the school, Sarah Birtley, Ashley Roberts, Megan Sayle and Carl Johnson, were also praised for their work with myths.

The pupils, now in Year Six, wrote the myths based on art work that they had seen at Cartwright Gallery.

Staff at Cartwright Hall selected the work to feature on a website set up to support a multi-media project called IMP.

Teacher Ruth Leech said: "It's a double celebration for the school that the pupils' work has been so highly recognised.

"We work every year with Cartwright Hall and the work is all designed to fit into the curriculum. The children have written some really clever myths based on the zones of dreams - it's excellent work.

"The beauty of the project is that we combine writing, word processing and art to encourage the children to think around one thing in lots of different ways."
