A Haworth man is bowled over after discovering he has been selected to play in the World Games Special Olympics next year.

Graeme Cunningham, 33, from Brow Road, has been picked for the British ten pin bowling squad and hopes to travel to Dublin next year for the Games.

Graeme, who has cerebral palsy, has enjoyed bowling for nine years and has won many medals for his skill and talent.

Last year he picked up two gold medals at Cardiff and he said: "I am really looking forward to next year, I can't wait and will practise lots to get ready."

He added how happy he was to be chosen for the honour of representing Britain, along with three other people from the Bradford area.

The Games will be held between June 16-29 and together the four need to raise £4,000 to cover training, travelling and other expenses.

Graeme practises at least once a week as part of the league at AMF Bowling in Keighley and sometimes goes along for extra practice sessions.

His proud parents Jean and Brian Cunningham commented: "There will be 168 countries taking part and over 7,000 competitors. It's fantastic that Graeme will be part of all that, we're really proud of him.
